The Rev. Tim Ervolina, Deacon

The Rev. Deacon Timothy (Tim) was raised in Central Florida. He attended college at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida where he received his BA in Biblical Studies and Systematic Theology. He earned a Masters in Pastoral Ministry from Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary in Tacoma, Washington. While in college, Tim he became involved in ministries to the marginalized people in his community, something which would change his life forever.

After seminary, Tim worked in College and Young Adult Ministries and began to wrestle with a call to ordained ministry. After a long period of discernment, he enrolled in the Diocesan School for the Diaconate and was ordained in 1999. He has served as a diaconal formation leader in the Diocese of Upper South Carolina and the Diocese of Washington, DC.

His ministry included 25 years with the United Way in Florida and South Carolina. In 2006, he was named as the President and CEO of United Way Association of South Carolina, where he was able to turn his attention to advocacy in the public square. In 2016, he retired from the United Way system and spent several years in the private sector and moved to the Diocese of Western North Carolina in 2018.

He served as Deacon at the Church of the Advocate (“The Red Door”) in Asheville and at Trinity Episcopal Church. In 2021, due to family responsibilities, Tim and his spouse Kendra moved to the South Carolina Low Country to help care for Kendra’s aging parents. They returned to Asheville in 2024.

These days, Tim spends a lot of time at St. George’s, volunteering for the Food Connection (where he recently was asked to serve on the Board of Directors). He is on the Blue Ridge Service Corps Advisory Board (where he met Mother Kelsey Davis!) and is passionate about how community service can transform the lives of the people who volunteer—and the people they serve, as well.

Tim and Kendra love the mountains, where they camp, hike and play with their two huskies, Suka and Kira.
